We are a growing UK lighting business, designing our own products and selecting established brands for our customers. We believe responsible business starts with practical choices: treating people fairly, choosing products with lasting value and reducing our impact as we grow.
We are still at the beginning of our sustainability journey, so we will not pretend to have every answer. Our approach is to be honest about what we do now and clear about the improvements we intend to make. For SW1 Lightworks, that work is centred on three areas.
01 People
Good business begins with good relationships.
SW1 Lightworks is built by a small team. We provide fair pay, equal opportunities and a safe, respectful and supportive working environment. We value open communication and want everyone who works with us to feel able to contribute and develop.
As we grow
As our business grows, we will give our team more structured opportunities for training and product learning. We will also set out clearer expectations for the suppliers and brands we work with, covering fair treatment, workplace safety and responsible business practices. Over time, better visibility across our supply chain will help us ask better questions and make better-informed choices.
02 Product
Chosen for
the long term.
We provide clear product information, installation guidance and customer support so that lighting can be selected, installed and used appropriately. Where a fitting is designed for a replaceable lamp, the lamp can be changed without replacing the whole fitting. We explain relevant features at product level, and we distinguish our own statements from claims made by the third-party brands we sell.
Looking ahead
Looking ahead, longevity will play a greater role in how we design our own collections and choose other brands. We will work towards practical standards for spare parts, warranties and material information, focusing first on the products where these can make the greatest difference. Our aim is simple: to help customers choose lighting they will value and use for many years.

03 Planet

Our first environmental priority is product longevity. Keeping a well-made light in use for longer avoids the need for premature replacement and gives greater value to the materials and energy already invested in it.
What we are working towards
Packaging & logistics
We are working towards packaging that protects delicate products without unnecessary material. This will include reducing avoidable single-use plastic, using simpler paper and cardboard formats and improving the fit of our packaging. We will also look for sensible opportunities to consolidate imported orders, avoid unnecessary air freight and consider environmental performance when choosing delivery partners.

Understanding our footprint
In time, we intend to measure our operational and supply-chain footprint more clearly. That evidence will help us concentrate on improvements that are meaningful for a business of our size, rather than making broad promises before the facts are available.
